BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT
The One Health approach recognizes the interdependence of human, animal, and environmental health, necessitating coordinated efforts across sectors to effectively manage emerging public health threats. In India, the Sector-Connect initiative - a collaboration between the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the Department of Animal Husbandry (DAHD) - was launched to operationalize this approach by fostering multi-sectoral collaboration and strengthening outbreak response capacity. Often activated during emergencies such as disease outbreaks or natural disasters, these collaborations ensure timely and coordinated responses. Sector-Connect builds a resilient epidemiology workforce by promoting interdisciplinary teamwork and enhancing practical skills.
