BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT
There are very few published evaluations focusing on outcomes and impacts of Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETPs), despite the vital role of Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETPs) in strengthening public health systems. Most existing evaluations focus on processes and outputs, which fail to measure how FETPs contribute to improved population health and enhanced response to public health threats. The COVID-19 pandemic has renewed interest in understanding the impact of FETPs on national preparedness and response capacities. This has prompted a reassessment of FETP competencies, curricula, and the need for robust monitoring and evaluation strategies to capture the impact. This interactive session will focus on the practical implementation of impact evaluations for FETPs. It will introduce an impact evaluation planning tool and evaluation framework.
