BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) highlight gender equality as both a stand-alone goal (SDG 5) and a cross-cutting priority, emphasizing the need for full participation of women in leadership and decision-making. Despite women comprising the majority of the global health workforce, they occupy only 25% of leadership roles (WHO, 2019). Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETPs), which are key to building public health capacity, currently lack gender-disaggregated data and gender-focused analysis. In response, Field Epidemiology is advancing efforts to address this gap through the development of a gender analysis toolkit and gender-responsive training recommendations.
